DJ Hero – Review
by The Ricass on Jan.07, 2010, under Previews/Reviews, Reviews
So, as you might have noticed, I’m not a particularly big Guitar Hero fan. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy playing the games; I love the gameplay, and I love being exposed to new music. What gets me is the absolute whoring of the franchise that Activision have done. Every month, a new Guitar Hero! When will it end? Well, hope is in sight, since DJ Hero is now a real thing in real shops. (continue reading…)
Borderlands – Review

Thinking up ways of introducing games gets harder every time I write them. There’s an art to linking something totally irrelevant to a game, and sometimes it’s harder than you might imagine. So, sod the intro, I’ll open like this; Borderlands is pretty damned good. There, you can go now. (continue reading…)
Modern Warfare 2 – Review
by The Ricass on Nov.16, 2009, under Previews/Reviews, Reviews
A lot like the Star Trek films, every odd numbered Call of Duty game sucks. Actually that theory doesn’t entirely work, some of the earlier Star Trek films are pretty bad regardless of release order. But the theory stands for the Call of Duty series, so bear with me. It’s pretty much fact that CoD2 and CoD4 are far better than their odd numbered brothers, and part of this is because the even numbered games are developed by the original developer of the series, Infinity Ward, who created the game for the PC. Well, it’s their turn again, so let’s take a look at Modern Warfare 2. (continue reading…)
Halo 3: ODST – Review
by The Ricass on Nov.08, 2009, under Previews/Reviews, Reviews
You know what one of my favourite TV series is? Firefly. I saw Serenity once, thought it was pretty damned awesome, and tracked down the series before it. It’s got a wonderful mix of wild-west influences in a sci-fi world, it’s a pretty neat look into what the future could hold, and of course, it has Nathan Fillion in the lead role. That man just melts my heart. He’s got good looks, charm, wit… *sigh*. It’s enough to make a man swing the other way. So naturally, when I heard they were making a game out of Firefly, I was pretty damned excited. Sadly that’s gonna take a while to make, so instead I went for Halo 3: ODST. (continue reading…)
DiRT 2 – Review
by The Ricass on Nov.02, 2009, under Previews/Reviews, Reviews
I was pretty sad when I heard Colin McRae had died. I mean, the guy’s a rally legend. I remember playing the games with his name on when I was little. Mainly because my Dad was trying to convince himself that he was still a gamer, but then again he’s always amazed by the fact that when someone uses a sniper rifle on a game, it comes up with a scope. Anyway, I digress. I wondered what would happen to the series with McRae no longer around. Well, DiRT 2 happened. (continue reading…)
Wheelman – Review
by The Ricass on Oct.28, 2009, under Previews/Reviews, Reviews
Vin Diesel’s cool, right? I mean, he was in such great films as xXx and Riddick and… well, that’s pretty much all that I can really remember. But if there’s one thing those films prove, it’s that our man Vin is a fan of kicking ass and taking names. So naturally, this means that he should… start a developer that produces games about him? Well whatever, let’s not judge until we play one of the games. How about, say, Wheelman? (continue reading…)
Brutal Legend – Review
by The Ricass on Oct.21, 2009, under Previews/Reviews, Reviews
It’s a universal fact that you either love or hate Jack Black. Yes, I know. It’s hard to accept that some people may not appreciate his brand of over-playing the rocker stereotype comedy. Personally I think he’s amazing. Then again, a friend of mine totally detests him and everything about him and what he stands for. Luckily, however, you don’t have to love Jack Black to love Brutal Legend.
