Dark Void – Preview
by The Ricass on Jan.11, 2010, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
Gears of War was a great game. Diving from cover to cover, blasting at enemies wildly, ripping them to pieces with a chainsaw. It had everything you want from a third person shooter. So, it was only natural that everyone else would try and rip it off to sell their game. So say hello to the latest in a long line of Gears rip-offs; Dark Void. (continue reading…)
Lego Indiana Jones 2 – Preview
by The Ricass on Dec.28, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
I recently acquired a laptop for the low low price of absolutely nothing, due to a relative no longer needing it. This is actually a totally pointless object for me, since I already have a PC that more than meets my everyday needs. The laptop offers me the exact same things; although with a slightly different feel to it, and an overall feeling that I may as well go back to the thing I was using before. This story may seem a little pointless, but I figure it fits well enough as an analogy for the topic of today’s preview, Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues. (continue reading…)
Army of Two: The 40th Day – Preview
by The Ricass on Dec.23, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
I’ve wanted to write this preview for quite some time now. But, alas, complications arose when it turned out I could not play the new Army of Two without a second person backing me up. So I’ve had to wait almost three days before my co-op friend decided he’d get his ass on his Xbox and play with me. And here we are. The preview for Army of Two: The 40th Day. (continue reading…)
Divinity 2: Ego Draconis – Preview
by The Ricass on Dec.23, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
RPG’s tend to come in a variety of region specific flavours. For example, the Japanese RPG usually places you in the role of a teenage boy with a silly haircut, attempting to save the world from some dark force, more often than not through the medium of turn-based combat. American RPG’s often give you a high degree of customisation in your characters, and focus mostly on action-based combat, giving you direct control over the character as they attempt to save the world. The British RPG is, well… Fable. But people often forget the European RPG, such as today’s subject, Divinity 2: Ego Draconis. And with good reason, too. (continue reading…)
Guitar Hero: Van Halen – Preview
by The Ricass on Dec.14, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
I’m really, really trying hard to do this preview. Really. It’s taking a lot from me just to open a Word document and start typing. That’s how much I am uninterested in previewing this game. I don’t even know what I could possibly say about it. But enough stalling, here it is. Guitar Hero: Van Halen. (continue reading…)
Planet 51 – Preview
by The Ricass on Dec.08, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
Here’s something I’m looking forward to; Christmas Eve. Some may argue that the day itself is more exciting, but I like the day spent before, doing absolutely nothing, sleeping in late, and getting an early Christmas present in the form of yet more pajamas. But this year, I’m also looking forward to the Dante’s Inferno demo that’s scheduled for the 24th of December. Why? Because hopefully it’ll be better than the stream of dull demos that have “graced” Xbox Live lately, the latest of which being Planet 51. (continue reading…)
Fairytale Fights – Preview
by The Ricass on Dec.05, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
You remember back in the days of old, when we had demos on discs, and some of them had time limits? Ahh, those were the good old days indeed. But, as they say, the good old days should stay in the good old days. Which would go some way to explaining why I didn’t enjoy my time with Fairytale Fights. (continue reading…)
Bayonetta – Preview
by The Ricass on Dec.04, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
You know what the scariest thing in the world is? The mind of a Japanese games designer. Look at the Katamari series, Devil May Cry, hell, even Mario is screwed up if you think about it for long enough. But today, let’s focus specifically on Devil May Cry, and it’s brand of bizarre, over-the-top fighting against demons and devils and so on. If you think about it for even one moment you’ll realize that it makes absolutely no sense. Still, someone must like it, since Bayonetta has been made and is on it’s way. (continue reading…)
Tropico 3 – Preview
by The Ricass on Nov.23, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
It might surprise you to know, but I have to confess; I haven’t been playing Modern Warfare 2 non-stop since the day I bought it. Yes, my review stated that it was a fantastic game that everyone should buy, and would keep you entertained for hours and hours. But somehow I find myself drawn to play something else. Which is pretty much why I checked out the Tropico 3 demo that just came out. (continue reading…)
Left 4 Dead 2 – Preview
by The Ricass on Nov.05, 2009, under Previews, Previews/Reviews
Zombies. Is there anything else that provides nerds with such unrelenting glee than zombies? The shuffling undead make us go wild, hence the constant stream of films and, more recently, video games featuring the living dead. They even managed to update the zombie movie; the film 28 Days Later introduced a newer, faster zombie to replace Romero’s creepy, shuffling monsters. Then of course, Valve made the hugely successful Left 4 Dead, introducing co-op to a genre littered with single-player games. Well, now it’s time for you to grab your shotgun and torch, because Left 4 Dead 2 is on its way. (continue reading…)
