If you suck at multiplayer or just prefer Hordes with your buddies then you can still level up thanks to the latest update giving exp per level completed based on difficulty. Insane gives 250 (500 during double exp weeks) per level but the higher you get the harder it gets. So why not just play level 1 with only Wrenches and Drones to worry about?

The set-up is to get your friends into a Private Insane on Security. The plan is to win the level as fast as you can (1:15 to 2:00ish) and then have everyone suicide into the lasers. Host picks start from beginning and repeat until bored.
